Prison

HEUNI has a longstanding tradition in prison research. Since the 1990's, prison systems in Central and Eastern Europe have been surveyed and in the early 2000's the work was focused on prison health issues in the region. The recent developments have dealt with, for example, security in prisons, ageing prisoners and female prisoners with a history of violence and abuse.
