Violence against women

HEUNI has been actively involved in the development of surveys on violence against women since the end of the 1990s, and in other research on gender-based violence. In 2008 HEUNI was responsible for the International Violence Against Women Survey (IVAWS) project. In 2014 HEUNI’s staff were engaged as experts in the FRA survey on violence against women. HEUNI has also developed a model for the collection of administrative data on domestic violence in Council of Europe, and provided expert guidance and technical assistance to UNODC in Vietnam for implementing research on law enforcement practices with regard to female victims of domestic violence. In 2017-2019 HEUNI will take part in an EU funded project developing services for refugee women who have been victims of violence.
