Universities - research institutes - NGOs

HEUNI’s work is carried out in close collaboration with international partners, mainly in Europe, but also in other parts of the world.

Examples of collaboration with universities has included the London School of Economics, King’s College London, the University of Sheffield and the Dutch research institute NSCR:

With the University of Tartu: The FLEX project researched exploitation of labour in three EU member states. The research questions were; whether there are forced labour situations and whether these situations include elements of trafficking; which economic sectors are especially affected; what is being done to prevent such exploitation, and; whether relevant actors and authorities recognise victims of trafficking for forced labour and whether there are sufficient mechanisms to assist the victims. The project used qualitative and quantitative approach to collect information on trafficking for forced labour, e.g. through thematic interviews, registry data, police, prosecution and court materials, and media sources.
